The Ministry of Transport and Communication in Finland has made 1Mbps broadband internet connection a legal right in the country reported YLE. According to the report, everyone in Finland is legally entitled to get 1Mbps broadband internet connection starting from July 2010.
Although Finland is not the first country to make internet access a legal right, it is the first country to make broadband internet access a legal right. The Finnish government has already decided to make 100Mbps internet connection a legal right by 2015. This 1Mbps connection guarantee is considered a intermediary step in achieving that 100Mbps target.
Some variations can however be arranged through mobile phone connection connection in some of the far-flung parts of the country where it is not possible to provide the 1Mbps connection.
With this law, Finland has again proved itself as being one of the most technologically advanced country in the world.
