Tabs On Top Coming In Firefox 4 Beta Next Week For Mac

Firefox Logo When I reviewed Firefox 4 Beta in Linux last week, I noted that the new tabs on top interface is not yet there for Linux. Well actually it is not there is in Mac too. Only the Windows have the new interface right now.

According to Mozilla, they expect the next beta to be released next week. The second beta will come with the new tab on top interface.

Other than the UI change that Mac users are getting, Firefox 4 Beta 2 will bring new changes like add-Ons Manager UI post-install confirmation/notification, CSS transitions and Retained Layers.

So, Mozilla when are we getting the new interface in Linux?

I’m waiting for this as well – in the meantime, I’ve discovered that I can run Greasemonkey scripts in Chrome – and I think that’s the final push for me…

    Yup – I got irritated that Firefox 4′s new look hadn’t come to Linux yet. There’s an add on for Firefox called “Ubiquity” that was irreplaceable for me. But when I found Greasemonkey scripts worked on Chrome, I was able to get that functionality as well…
    
    I’ve used Firefox for 5 or 6 years now, and it makes me sad to leave it. But it’s just so slow. When I load a slashdot page, all the other tabs freeze. Same with Gmail. This doesn’t happen with Chrome – may have something to do with the fact that each tab is a separate process.

      I agree. Firefox have a lot of catching up to do in terms of speed. The only thing that got it going for Firefox was the add-ons. But after Chrome got extensions too, its a no-brainer which one I would use.
