Firefox Minefield LogoFirefox's new revolutionary tab management system, Tab Candy, has landed in Mozilla Daily Build PPA in Launchpad today.

Tab Candy is a new tab management system which may make its debut in Firefox 4. Instead of relying solely on the little tabs, you can actually use the whole screen to manage your tabs. You can group different tabs, give name to a group etc. It is a very useful feature if you are the kind of person who has a lot of tabs open at any time. Watch the video below for a better explanation.

(The video is not new. If you have already seen it, jump down for the installation instruction)

In today's build of Minefield (Firefox 4.0 Beta 4 Pre) in the Mozilla Daily Build PPA in Launchpad, Tab Candy is finally available. If you want to try it out, you can install Minefield alongside your normal Firefox installation.

Note: This build maybe highly unstable.

Open Terminal and execute the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install firefox-4.0

After you have finished installing it, disable the above PPA from System > Administration > Software Sources. If you do not do this your Firefox (not the Minefield) will get upgraded to Namoroka the next time you update your system.

Now that the installion is over, you will find it at Applications > Internet > Minefield 4.0 Web Browser.
