Facebook ,in its course of expansion, has considered about a tie up with Luxembourg based giant Skype. Rumors have it that it might be buying the company for a price of between $3 billion and $4 billion. A talking to the company for a joint venture is at least sure. The discussions are in early stages, and it is not clear which option the companies favor, as Skype officials are not willing to comment on any of these issues.

If any of such things happen it will act as a milestone in growth of Facebook as it is positioning itself to be a new communication tool. With Skype integrated with Facebook, users will certainly experience new horizons of connectivity.

According to some other sources it is believed that Skype's IPO is expected to raise about $1 billion. It seems Facebook is not the only company interested in Skype. Some sources also believe that web giant Google has held early talks for a joint venture with Skype. But the fact that Google already has its own VoIP technology (Google Voice) makes the Google rumor a little less likely. Anyway, unless we get more concrete evidence we can sit and watch.

Do you think, Facebook acquiring Skype makes sense?
