Steadyflow is an easy to use download manager for Ubuntu. The application is currently available for Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" and Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot". With the latest release, Steadyflow has got some new features which makes it a very good option if you are looking for a download manager.

Features

Here is a brief list of the features that Steadyflow has:

  • Steadyflow supports running any arbitrary command on the completion of a download.
  • Tighter Unity integration - Add download added to Unity's quick list.
  • Password authentication id supported for FTP, SFTP, SMB etc.
  • Download controls for all files at once as well as individual files are supported.

Installation

Steadyflow is already available in the main repository for Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot". So, in the (yet) unlikely event that you are using Ubuntu 11.10, install Steadyflow with the command,

$ sudo apt-get install steadyflow

If you are on Ubuntu 11.04, you have to add a PPA first. To do that execute the command,

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sikon/steadyflow

After adding the PPA, you can install it with the commands,

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install steadyflow

Integration with Firefox and Chrome/Chromium

Firefox can be integrated with Steadyflow through the FlashGot extension. You can install FlashGot from here.

For Chrome/Chromium users, you can get Steadyflow integrated using the extension ChromeFlow. Download links are given below:
