Appointy uses social networking platforms like Facebook, Twitter or Emails to help businesses grow. In essence, it functions as an e-commerce system meant for doctors, spas, salons etc. Appointy works for any business that accepts appointments over the phone. Adopting a strategy they call “Social Promotion”, Appointy uses your friend network on Facebook for example, to increase customers for businesses.
It also allows them to create deals, discounts or offers with an offer to promote these to their existing or new customers on Facebook, Twitter or Emails. These discount schemes help businesses to reach out to new customers in idle times. Moreover, reviews on Appointy are promoted to the client’s social network and act as personal recommendation from friends.
Taking a cue from various requests for an appointment system to meet the different requirements of various businesses, Appointy was launched as a SaaS online scheduling space by a team of 15+ members with experience in the space, headed by Nemesh Singh. The Appointy team includes Khushal Patel (Currently, CTO), Puneet Pathak (Currently,Sr. Software Developer ) & Rajesh Meena (Currently,Sr. Software Developer). The company now has offices in USA and India.
The software has gained popularity on such a large scale across countries because of the twin benefits of 24X7 scheduling from anywhere through smartphones, tablets, PCs or Macs; and helping businesses grow without any extra effort since Appointy takes care of all appointment and scheduling needs while the business can concentrate on providing services. Nemesh says, “The reason for our popularity in western countries is because Businesses in western countries follow appointment culture and Appointy gave the best scheduling experience with growth potential. I’d also attribute this to our innovative features.”
Currently running on .NET and MSSql technology, Appointy offers basic features for free. It also offers premium features to businesses which need additional support, plans ranging from $9.99 to $99.99 per month. Appointy converts a portion of its users into paid customers every month.
The team behind Appointy initially used plug-ins for free-to-use web applications such as WordPress to market itself, but with its popularity rising (25 to 50+ signups everyday) due to its innovative features and viral ability, marketing wasn’t very tough. A lot of effort went into designing the service and software, initial investment being $18000.
At this point, with the premium plans in place, Appointy is making decent profits and expanding. It has booked Rs. 1000 crores worth of e-commerce services and “will be playing a crucial role in future to help and understand the business practices, making it more exciting”, as Nemesh says.
