Bing Gets Metro UI Like HTML5 Live Tiles & Ads In Organic Results

Microsoft is definitely trying hard to give Google a run with it's Bing search engine. Couple of days back, we told you how Bing has been displaying related iPhone apps in search results when users lookup something on their iPhone using Bing. Well, now we have some more changes to the Bing search interface both on the search page and the search results page.

Live Tiles

Bing will now have a new Tile like strip at the bottom of the home page which contain live information (thus the name - Live Tiles) about weather, current news, Maps, Movies, search trends and others. The UI of the live tiles is similar to the Metro UI which we will get to see in Windows 8.

However, this Live Tile like feature for Bing on desktops has already been around on iPhone for some time now. The Live Tiles for Bing on Web have been implemented using latest HTML5 technologies. Check this screenshot:

 Ads within Organic search results

Another change which you might get to see in the Bing search results page is the placement of the text ads. Microsoft has decided to remove the promoted results or the text ads from the top on the search results page and is planning to show them in between the organic search results on the search pages.
