Facebook Connect powers Wireless Internet Access at Airport

facebook connect button Facebook Connect has been in the news for quite a some time now after it`s launch with all web gurus talking  about strategies and tips for it’s implementation on websites for connecting users and building up a social platform. You should read this if you still don’t have a clue about Facebook Connect. A number of stories have also compared it to Google’s friend connect and we have already seen debates on “which of the two is superior”. In all this fuss people almost forgot that Facebook Connect can be used as a genuine authentication mechanism too. But not the Wireless Internet Access engineers at Calagary International Airport. They have put this basic use of Facebook Connect as an Authentication Mechanism for providing free Wireless Internet Access to travelers and visitors in the Airport Premises. So you have a Facebook Account, you just need to sign in using Facebook connect and you are all ready to zoom through the web. In the near future we could also expect some feature from the Facebook guys which would enable us to determine if any of my friends are at the same airport provided they have logged in through Facebook Connect too! This is all so good, but in today’s world of grave danger when terrorism is on the rise, Facebook Connect is really questionable  when it comes to how true the user’s identity is who has logged in to browse internet using Facebook Connect as getting a Facebook account is just a few clicks away once you land up the Facebook homepage.
