Today Google has announced an update to the Android Market which brings about a complete overhaul in the looks. With the update, the Android Market looks much much better – although comparison will be drawn with the Metro UI of Windows Phone 7.

Other than the looks, the update will also allow users to purchase ebooks and rent movies in selected regions (only US for now). The new market certainly looks better and makes browsing through the apps a better experience – but it seems to be slower than before.

Google has started rolling out the new market today. The new market will be available to all devices with Android 2.2 or above. The rollout is expected to take weeks and you do not need to do anything – it will get updated automatically.
