Acai Berry Spam In Twitter Linked To Gawker Hack

A few hours ago, a new spam promoting something called acaia berry started spreading in Twitter. It spread so quickly that it was suspected of being a worm.
Now, Del Harvey, who leads Twitter's trust and security team, has confirmed that it is not a worm but it is connected to an altogether hack - the Gawker hack. Apparently the accounts which are posting the acai berry spam are using the same passwords in both Gawker and Twitter.
This is unsurprising given the fact that many users uses the same password everywhere. So, if you are registered to any of the Gawker sites - Gizmodo, Lifehacker, Kokatu etc. be careful and change your password just to be safe.
