BBC iPlayer App Available In The Android Market – Only For UK

BBC has released its iPlayer app in the Android market. The app allows users to watch BBC TV or listen to the BBC Radio live on their Android device. The app also allows users to watch/listen TV and radio programs from the last seven days. And if you prefer to watch the programs on a real TV, you can use the app to look up the schedule.

As amazing as the app sounds, it is limited to only UK residents - too bad I have always wanted to watch TopGear on the go! However the UK only availability makes sense because iPlayer is available only in the UK as of now.

However not all is good with the app though. The app can only be used with Wi-Fi - it does not work over 3G or 4G. This is a big let down because if I were to install this app, I would want to be able to watch my TV and listen to my radio wherever I go and not be limited by the availability of Wi-Fi. Sure enough, users are complaining about it in the Markets comment section.

The app is available in the Android Market for free. It requires Android 2.2 and above and only residents of the UK can install it. Oddly enough, I cannot find it in AppBrain, so only the link to the Android market is given below.
