Finally Adobe Flash Player For 64-bit Linux Systems

By Ricky on September 16th, 2010

Finally Adobe has released Flash for 64-bit systems - for Linux as well. A couple of months ago,  Adobe suddenly discontinued the 64-bit bit Flash Player for Linux without giving any reason.

In yesterday's announcement, Adobe has launched a preview build of Flash 10.2 "Square". It was released for all major platforms - Windows, Mac and Linux.

According to the announcement, although "Square" is a developer preview, it is stable and ready for broad testing. It should be faster and more stable than the previous Flash 10.1 64-bit for Linux.

In a non-linux related news, this release also uses Internet Explorer 9's GPU support through Direct3D9 for compositing. This should result in a faster and more responsive handling of Flash content.
