It seems like people just cannot have enough of Amarok 1.4. Earlier we have already reviewed Clementine, a port of Amarok 1.4. Now we have two more Amarok 1.4 clones - Gereqi and Pana. Both of them are relatively small projects and if you still want Amarok 1.4 you might want to check them out.

Gereqi

This is the Gereqi interface. Although it is an Amarok 1.4 clone, it has a slightly different interface. By slightly different, I mean a simpler one. In Gereqi, you will not find the the Amalyzer, that you will find at the bottom in Amarok 1.4. The settings are non-existent. But, we are not complaining here. It is a new project and we think that it will get better.

Anyway, if you want to test out Gereqi, go to the download page and download it.

Pana

Pana is actually a clone of Amarok 1.4. Just look at the interface - its completely identical. More than just the interface, Pana is very similar to Amarok 1.4 featurewise as well. If not the Pana label, anyone would be led to believe that this is Amarok 1.4. If you want to relieve the good old days of Amarok 1.4, you should probably be looking at Pana.

If you want to install Pana in Lucid, you have to do it from Philip Johnsson's PPA. Strangely, the Lucid version is not present in the Pana PPA.

Here is what you need to do:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:philip5/extra

$ sudo apt-get update

$ sudo apt-get install pana

Note: You might want to disable the PPA after installing. It contains a lot of experimental (read Alpha and Beta) software.
