KDE Software Compilation 4.4 Beta 2 was released a few days back. Now it is available for installation in your Kubuntu Karmic system as well. This article will tell you how to do it.
WARNING: THIS IS A BETA RELEASE. SO, PLEASE TREAT IT AS SUCH AND REFRAIN FROM INSTALLATION IN A PRODUCTION MACHINE.
Now, that we have got the warning out of the way, if you want to install it follow the steps given below:
- Add the Kubuntu Beta Repository by executing the command given below in Konsole.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/beta
- Update the software list with
sudo apt-get update
- Finally, upgrade to KDE SC 4.4 Beta 2 using the command
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Now, all you have to do is wait for sometime for the installation to finish.
