If you have been using Facebook for the last few days then you must have noticed the Facebook Social Reader which is a new Timeline app from Facebook that lets publishers like Washington Post and Yahoo! to automatically publish information on Facebook about the new stories you read on their websites.
Although good in social terms as it lets your friends also go through whatever you are reading but some may see it as a privacy breach. Since Facebook does not provide a way to disable or bypass the Social Reader, we will tell you about Two Google Chrome extensions that let you disable or bypass the Facebook Social Reader.
Facebook Social Reader Bypass
This is a Google Chrome extension that basically alters the article links in the Social reader and changes them to the direct URL of the articles. So, using this app you do not have to forcibly install the social reader apps in order to read articles on Facebook.
Facebook Unsocial Reader
This is another Google Chrome extension that basically rewrites Facebook's Social Reader links that take you to the Google "I'm feeling lucky" searches for the article's title. So, this way you do not have to install the social reader apps and also you get related articles for the article you want to read, from other sources.
