To extend this sort of network connectivity right upto the Battalion level, about Rs. 229 crores were spent, and state of the art Data Centres for data storage have been set up, apart from the Main Data Centre, a Disaster Recovery Data Centre (in a different seismic zone) and Mini Data Centres at Frontier HQrs. Attention has been paid to network security and data loss prevention by establishing sufficient cyber security measures for the network.

The Intranet Pahari Project (IPP) is a step forward is developing a support system that helps in robust and quick decision making, and is fully automated and integarated with all major processes such as finance, inventory management, operations and personnel information. The project can significantly reduce paperwork and provide a consolidated view of data for higher echelons and for analyses.

“This is a major benefit from the Intranet Prahari Project apart from efficient office management which will help in quick decision making,” said Chidambaram. About 20,000 BSF personnel posted in 237 locations will now be able to access all their personal data from wherever they are posted.
