People feel that the internet is an easy way of making money and in this target of making money online, they often tend to over look theLogo of the India Music Industry Association legalities involved and end up in the hands of law. In a similar incident which occurred recently in Rajkot (India), a final year engineering student - Kalpesh Patel was arrested by a team from the Cyber Crime Branch cell of Mumbai Police on the charges of promoting music piracy.

Kalpesh used two run two websites - songsdl.com & mp3don.com where he offered free downloads of latest hindi songs from Bollywood movies. Well, this in itself is a very big act of piracy. We found out that the website also had advertisements from various sources which proves the fact that Kalpesh was making money from his sites. And in this pursuit of making money online illegally, he finally ended up getting caught by the cops.

The arrest happened on July 2 after the Cyber Crime cell of Mumbai Police started investigating the website songsdl.com when they received a complaint filed by Indian Music Industry (IMI). The complain was about Kalpesh and how he was allegedly offering free music download on his website.

Based on further investigations, the Cyber Crime Cell found that the website mentioned in the complaint was being run from the year 2010 and finally tracked down the owner of the website (Kalpesh) in Rajkot and seized a laptop and a hard disk from his residence.

Last year, the founder of a big search engine company in India - Guruji.com was arrested on the same grounds of music piracy. Users should realise that music and video piracy on the web are serious crimes and should alert their friends about the consequences.
