A few hours back, the Apple store was down. When it came up again, they have added a new product - Aperture 3.

Aperture 3 is Apple's solution for professional photo editing and management. It is like a advanced (or should I say, Professional) version of Apple's iPhoto software.

Aperture 3 brings with it a lot of new features, including the Faces and Places features first introduced in iPhoto ‘09. Faces automatically detect people in your photographs, allowing you to add tags and identify people. In Aperture 3, Faces is extended further with the ability to see the names in individual projects. And the new Show Unnamed Faces pane displays all the detected-but-not-yet-named faces in a project to help you easily add names. The Places feature uses GPS data embedded in your photographs to add location-related data to the photo. You can then find the photos using an interactive map.

Other than these management features, Aperture 3 has tons of new editing options like brushes, adjustment presets and advanced slideshow. A big new addition is the addition of video support.

Aperture 3 is available for $199 for new users and $99 for those upgrading from and earlier version of Aperture.
