Twitter has killed the basic authentication system used in a lot of Twitter clients yesterday. Earlier we wrote about how you can get the latest Choqok to continue using Twitter. It seems like the current version of Gwibber in the PPA does not support OAuth either.

So, to continue using Twitter in Gwibber, you have to update to the latest version of Gwibber. You can get it from either the Ubuntu Desktop PPA or the Gwibber Daily PPA. I suggest you use the Gwibber Daily PPA. The Ubuntu Desktop PPA has some stuffs that you may not want to update.

So to update, open the Terminal and execute the following commands:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gwibber-daily/ppa

$ sudo apt-get update

$ sudo apt-get upgrade

If you want to use the Ubuntu Desktop PPA, replace ppa:gwibber-daily/ppa in the first command with ppa:ubuntu-desktop/ppa .
