Google book search goes mobile

google-book-search.pngAs we have already mentioned earlier, Google is on a roll. Now they have launched The Google Book search for Mobile phones. The entire portal has been redesigned keeping mobile compatibility in mind and are optimized to be read on a small screen. To try the google book search for Mobile, open your browser in your mobile phone and point it to The Google Book search for Mobile website has also been optimised for the iPhone and Android platforms.

But the Google Book Search for Mobile works in a different way than it`s Desktop counterpart. Google Book Search for Desktop comprises of previews that are composed of page images made by digitally scanning physical copies of books. These page images render well when viewed on a computer browser but go bonkers when viewed on a phone's screen which are generally small. What Google Book Search team did was extract the text from the page images so that the text could be displayed easily on your mobile browser just like any other web page by an extraction process commonly known as OCR (Optical Character Recognition).
