How to install a telnet client in Windows 7?

windows-7-telnetWindows 7 (as well as Windows Vista) does not have a Telnet client installed by default. Well  if you do not know, a Telnet client finds it’s use in both Network Administration and even in day to day computer usage. In this article we will tell you how to install a Telnet Client on Windows 7.

Telnet is not installed in Windows 7 by default. So when you type telnet at the command prompt, you get an error saying telnet is not a recognized command.

1. First of all, Go to the control Panel in Windows 7 and open the Windows Features wizard. You can read this detailed guide on how to Add or Remove Windows features in Windows 7.

2. From the Feature List, select the option for Telnet Client. You can do this by checking the box next to it.

3. Click on OK and sit back while the Telnet Client installs on your Windows 7 machine.

4. After this you can start the Telnet client by typing in telnet at the command prompt.

You can also choose to install a Telnet Server by checking the box next to it and in a similar way.
