This week was a week of security issues. First of all there was the hack of Tata Consultancy Services' website and there was also the revelation from Mozilla that malwares were found in Firefox add-ons. Another big news was that OpenOffice may be dropped from Ubuntu Netbook Edition. Read on to find out more.

1. Ubuntu Netbook Edition planning to replace OpenOffice with Google Docs.

According to the Ubuntu Netbook Edition Blueprint, Ubuntu Netbook Edition will have Google Docs handling its documents instead of OpenOffice. The developers feel that OpenOffice is irrevalent in a netbook although a lot of users differ.

2. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) website hacked

The website of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest software company, was hacked. The hack appears to be a DNS Hijack. As of now it is believed that a french hacker is responsible.

3. Ex-VP says Microfoft is lagging behind in terms of innovations; Microsoft doesn't think so

Dick Brass, a Vice President at Microsoft from 1997 to 2004, wrote an article in The New York Times in which he speaks out against what he calls “Creative Destruction” in Microsoft. This article seems to have cause stomach-ache to Microsoft and they responded with a blog post.

4. Malware detected in Firefox Add-ons

In a blog post, Mozilla said that two malicious Firefox Add-ons – Version 4.0 of Sothink Web Video Downloader and all versions of Master Filer were found to contain Trojan code aimed at Windows users. These add-ons have been removed now.

5. Google to stop supporting IE6 in GMail, Google Calendar as well

Earlier, Google announced that they will stop the supporting Internet Explorer 6 in Google Apps. Now according to a Ars Technica report, Google is also ending support of the Internet Explorer 6 in GMail and Google Calendar as well later in 2010.
