Kinect Hacking: Two More Amazing Kinect Hacks
The open source Kinect drivers has probably started a revolution. Everyday new videos are coming up of people making use of Kinect in amazing ways. A while ago, Kinect was used to provide a multi-touch like experience in Ubuntu – without actually touching. Today we have two more of those Kinect hacks.
Evoluce has taken what we saw in Ubuntu to another level. They have developed a full gesture system to control Windows 7. It includes clicking, browsing the media center, web browsing, text input using an onscreen keyboard etc. (Click here if you cannot see the embedded video.) I sure would like to have something like this in an HTPC. There a few more videos in the blog of the Evoluce’s CEO.
Interactive Puppet Prototype with Xbox Kinect from Theo Watson on Vimeo.
And this is probably the greatest shadow puppet ever. This was developed by Emily Gobeille and Theo Watson using the open source kinect drivers – libfreekinect and ofxkinect. The most amazing part of this puppet show is that it was all developed in a day.
With Microsoft confirming that they will not take any actions against people using Kinect for these purposes, we will only see more of these amazing applications of Kinect.
