The Linux Mint team has decided to ditch Kubuntu for the Linux Mint 11 KDE edition due to the lack of performance and the amount of resources needed by the Kubuntu base. Linux Mint 11 KDE might be based on Debian instead.

The first release candidate of Linux Mint 10, codenamed “Julia”, has been released. Julia is based on the recently recently released Ubuntu 10.10 “Maverick Meerkat”. Like Ubuntu 10.10, Linux Mint 10 has Linux Kernel 2.6.35, GNOME 2.32 and X.org 7.5.
